Sound your conch shells, we’re off to the Bahamas. Yes, this is a Caribbean special, and yes, the Bahamas — a chain of 700 islands and thousands more cays — is technically in the Atlantic. But even Bahamians refer to their country as part of the Caribbean, and with soft sands and bath-warm water, it fits right in.
It’s impossible to cover the archipelago in one guide, so we’re focusing on a handful of the most popular spots. Nassau, the capital, has direct flights, a big cruise port and colourful colonial architecture. There are some decent stretches of sand here, but the finest are further afield.
