10 Countries To Travel From Montreal Where The Canadian Dollar Is High

For Canadians, travel around the world is relatively easy. There are so many incredible destinations to be seen in the world, lessons to be learned and cultures to be experienced. It is a shame that so many people don’t take advantage of these opportunities.

As someone who has travelled a lot throughout their life, I know that I am not the only person who has fallen into the “currency trap.”

Imagine you are travelling to the United States. You decide to take a day trip with your friends and end up buying an expensive dinner. You get home, see your bank statement, and want to scream because it’s not what you remembered paying. This nightmare happens every time you forget to compare currencies.

We all work hard for our dollar, and when we decide to use our hard-earned funds on travelling, we must be conscious of the exchange rates.

I wanted to give all you readers an amazing gift: the gift of knowledge. Here you’ll find travel destinations where you can feel like a baller during your stay.

These foreign and unique destinations all have one thing in common, they put a lot of value on the Canadian dollar. This makes them ideal locations for your next vacation.

Included in the article is also the approximate cost to fly to these places from Montreal, which we compiled using Google Flights.

The initial flight will cost you a pretty penny but once you are there, you will be living lavishly.

Argentina offers beautiful landscapes, amazing food, and great hotels for a reasonable price.

This incredible destination is a combination of sophistication and natural beauty. Dive into the culture in Buenos Aires or take in all the beauty at Iguaza Falls. Whatever you do, you’ll be spending a lot less money than you think!

Mexico has always been a favourite vacation spot for Montrealers, and for a good reason.

Mexico has an abundance of gorgeous beaches, amazing parties, and more food and booze than you can consume in a lifetime.

If you’re not sold yet, you’re about to be, because the Canadian dollar goes a long way in Mexico. This means that you can live like royalty without breaking the bank.

When it comes to my travel bucket list, Morocco is at the top.

From the romance surrounding Chefchaouen, the blue city, to exploring the red dunes of the Sahara desert, the country has a lot to offer a traveller accustomed to grey Canadian winter skies.

The cost of travel within Morocco depends on the level of accommodation you expect to receive. For Canadians, a luxurious week doesn’t have to cost all that much.

Belize may only occupy 8,867 square miles, but this country is equipped with everything you will ever need for a dream vacation.

Belize is known for its thrill-seeking adventure and laid-back environment. A trip to the Central American country will be far from your typical “beach” vacation.

If you are not already sold on making Belize your next travel destination, consider that your Canadian dollar goes a long way!

Brazil

Brazil is known for its successful soccer team, lively culture, and some of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world.

Brazil has always had a certain allure, and the fact that our Canadian dollar is so strong there makes this an ideal vacation destination for all of us!

The Philippines

Approximate cost of round-trip flight: ~ $1,200

Approximate cost of 3-star hotel stay: $38 per night

Approximate meal cost: 200 Philippine Peso = $5.09 CAD

@the_philippines

This Asian archipelago country is one of the most underrated yet affordable places for Canadians to travel — if you can afford the flight, that is.

The cost of living is cheap and with our strong dollar, there is no way you won’t be living it up if you decide to vacation in the Philippines.

Indonesia

Approximate cost of round-trip flight: ~ $2,000

Approximate cost of 3-star hotel stay: $40 per night

There are very few places as close to my heart as Indonesia. The vibe, great food, and abundance of nature are what made me fall in love.

Although the flight can be a little steep, once you are there, you will be spending little money, so you’ll have nothing to worry about.

Indonesia is home to an abundance of beaches, amazing waterfalls, and some of the most charming hotels ever.

Another awesome thing about Indonesia is the myriad of artisanal goods for sale. So, you can be sure to go home with a souvenir or two.

Thailand

Approximate cost of round-trip flight: ~ $1,300

Approximate cost of 3-star hotel stay: $40 per night

Approximate meal cost: 150 Thai Baht = $6.50 CAD

@brendonohue

It is no surprise that Thailand is a relatively cheap destination for Canadians since so many local social media fe are flooded with pics from the southeast Asian country. I myself have been guilty of posting that typical, un-original Thailand boat picture!

From the awe-inspiring temples to the Buddha statues everywhere you turn, there is something truly special about this coastal country.

Happy travels my fellow Canadians!
